A Reason to Be Thankful

(Art by Kaitlin Beckett. Check out her Curious Bestiary! And yes--the illustration shows an ostrich, but let's all pretend it's a turkey, OK?)

My computer is back from the shop. For the last few days, I've felt like I was missing a huge chunk of my brain! Oh the joy! Oh the happiness!

I hope you all have a fantastic Thanksgiving! I'll try to come up with some awesome weirdness to keep you amused.

What's this about 'do not settle?' did I miss something about a movie? I personally vote..........no. A 3:27 is right. they'd leave out important parts, add in frivolous parts and turn it and twist it until it was no more.

Hm, usually books are ruined by movies, but it would be cool to see how Kiki and the rest of the Irregulars are portrayed. So I guess I vote no.
Guess what? I just got my computer(er, laptop) back from repair a few days ago, and my teacher's computer got fixed two days ago. Could you say coincidence? Or do you not believe in them? I personally don't.

Kinga: I don't believe in coincidences either. Have you ever heard of Hitsuzen? It's basically a Japanese interpretation of fate: a naturally fordained event in which no other outcome is possible. Possibly connected to the butterfly effect?

Anyway, wonderful drawing.

The movie idea: It's completely up to Kirsten in my opinion, if she thinks its a good idea, I trust her. I'm sure that if done well it will be an amazing movie!

i dunnoe which to vote,
i mean it would be nice to see the characthers in real life so long as they look like them.
but movies normally ruin the book, and i hate to see it happen.

Kirsten, have you heard about that restaurant in New York called Ninja where servers dressed as ninjas run around and do things like steal forks and misplace things on your table? It sounds really interesting. You should go to it, since you live in New York.

P.S. To the people talking about a Kiki Strike movie, I suggested it once on an earlier post, and nobody paid any attention to me!

as you can see Kirsten, it is very dangerous to leave your comment board unchecked.... we absolutely love your book and that's why we don't want a movie... have YOU SEEN aragon...*shudder* *shudder* *shudder* I think that it's certainly up to you. but if you DO make a movie... you need to say no, no no, until you get what you want you have to stay strong or else it will be nothing but a blip on the scene of hollywood failures, I think that for your next contest you should have us, your ardent fans, do an interpretation of a scene. we could use
comics
flash
video camera
flip book
etc.
something artistic to show how much we love your work

Hey, daaaaahlings!
I just came back from marvelous New York City and saw the Tim Burton exhibit at the MOMA (museum of modern art) any of you who enjoy burton or dark humor, i highly suggest it. Kirsten, I especially suggest you invest in the $20 fee to get in. I also got to see starry night and persistence of memory (the melting clocks)! It was fun, and I also met Queen Latifah at Macy's!!!!! :)

Yes! I say if it would be alot like a book and kirsten helps directs it, it would be AWESOME!
It would also be AWESOME to see how they make the book into a movie. So I vote yes a gazillion times!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
As for the movie, I kind of agree with Charstar ;). Look at the Lord of the Rings movies. You have to admit they're quite good. I think a Kiki movie with the right production team and the proper actors could be really good, but I am not begging for a movie to be made. And I'm not totally against the idea.

9:38 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Movie? I VOTE NO! NOOOOOOOOOOO!
I think it could be a great movie, but only if it stays the same...
but that might not happen, so I vote no. No.
P.S. Hi Kirsten!! :)

2:16 AM
Anonymous Nicoblues said...

Please no. Sure they might get good actors and all but that would destroy the point of people reading the book, then you'd have to make a vid. game of it, meaning more people not reading and instead sitting at the T.V. rotting their brains and polluting the world even more and that would lead to KIKI merchandise,Barbie company would want on the band wagon too and is that what all of you want? Kiki, Ananka, Oona, Betty, Luz, Dee Dee, and Iris BARBIES?! Not to mention the fact that it would mean using up more of the world's resources and isn't the world in enough trouble? Look at the sea snot for Pete's sake! Come on!Please don't make a movie! I beg of you! Really consider this argument.

1:12 PM
Anonymous Nicoblues said...

Hey, wait. I just thought of something. Kirsten do you want the book made into a movie? If you do it's fine with me. Never mind my last comment.

1:38 PM
Blogger Micci said...

Oh, my mistake. I guess someone did pay attention to me. (thanks, Charstar!) At least I can say that I mentioned it first! (or at least was among the first to mention it)

P.S. To everyone disagreeing, not all movies made from books are all bad. Remember Harry Potter and To Kill a Mockingbird (it won an Academy Award!).

Forrester: It was awesome! Thanks so much for spreading the word!

Micci: I haven't heard of that restaurant. I want a reservation NOW!

Anonymous @12:36: Fantastic idea!

Nicoblues: Gee, thanks for asking! There are people who are trying to make it into a movie. And they love the books as much as we do. (Seriously.) If they succeed, I know they'll make us all proud!

P.S. Please don't make a movie of the third book before it's published.

9:47 AM
Anonymous Forrester said...

Okay, I change my vote; Yes. Just no Kiki Barbies please?

And Micci and Charstar: It is completely unfair to compare Kiki Strike to Harry Potter. They are very different. And Anonymous @ 12:53 &55 I can't believe you would even think of comparing Kiki to Twilight! Ugh. Every picture of Isabella Swan or whoever(no offense to all Twilight lovers on this blog, I'm jut stating a fact) looks like she's on drugs! I'm sorry but....... well, it's kind of true what with her red eyes.

A movie would be great, but I'd be afraid that the actors or director would ruin it. Otherwise YES!!! (I call the part of Ananka)

5:39 PM
Anonymous Forrester said...

I will be the part of Kiki. I'm kidding. I can act really good but put me in front of a camera or people I don't know and I can't speak. Instead, I crack up like I'm on drugs. I mean it. Someone actually asked me that one time. I'M NOT!!!!!

5:57 PM
Blogger Micci said...

Forrester: It is COMPLETELY fair to compare Kiki Strike to Harry Potter. In my opinion, Harry Potter is a much harder book to adapt to a movie than Kiki Strike. If they can do Harry Potter, they can do Kiki Strike.

11:20 PM
Anonymous Forrester said...

Micci: Well, I don't think it's completely fair to compare the books because of the genres, but I do agree that they could make a movie out of Kiki Strike easily. But I still refuse to compare it to Twilight. Ugh. I mean it's a good book and all but I don't see what the big deal is. No offense to all Twilight lovers. It's just that I just wasn't all that impressed.
