Here's the Scoop

There are a few questions I'm asked over and over again. (Don't worry, they never get boring. I'm flattered you care!)

1. Will there be a Kiki #3 and when will it be out?
2. Why has it taken soooooo long?
3. How have you been spending your time if you haven't been writing Kiki #3?

Today I'm going to answer all of these questions!

There will be a Kiki #3. It's called The Darkness Dwellers. (Though that title may change before it's published.) And it will (most likely) be out in early 2011. I know that sounds like forever, but in publishing terms it's just around the corner. (Okay, that probably didn't make you feel any better, did it?)

However, as I've told many of you who've written me, I PROMISE it will be worth the wait. Among the many questions the book will answer . . .

Will Kiki finally seize the throne of Pokrovia?
Why is Livia Galatzina bald?
Does Oona Wong really have an identical twin?
Why do fish forks exist?
Is escargot as delicious as it looks?
Are the catacombs beneath Paris anything like the Shadow City?
Who is Ananka Fishbein's secret crush?
Why is an executive from a pharmaceutical company following DeeDee Morlock?

It's going to be awesome. (Well, I find it entertaining!)

Okay, on to the next question. So what have I been doing with my time? Well I've been writing another book. It's called The Eternal Ones. It will be in bookstores next summer (and not just in the US)! It's for teens and adults, so I wouldn't recommend it for those of you who are under 14 or so. (Yes, I know. It's totally unfair. Sorry about that.) It's a dark romance/thriller about a girl whose visions of another life lead her on a quest to find her one eternal love. Along the way she encounters shadowy figures, secret societies, and a private security force known only as the gray men. (And yes, the figure shown above plays a key role in the book.)

I'll be posting more about the new book in the new year! Until then, I hope I've answered your most pressing questions!

Take your time... I know that writing is no easy task. I am sure that Darkness Dwellers will be worth the wait and I am looking forward to its release with great anticipation! Unfortunately, I will probably not be allowed to read your other book, but I'm sure that it will be great!

I'm so excited for the new book! The questions you posted are interesting... What's up with DeeDee? Anyway, I can't wait!

Your new book sounds good, too!

But that picture you posted... It reminds me of a book I read a while ago called The Riddles of Epsilon.

Nevermind.

That is a picture of Ouroboros, the "eternal rerun".

Does that mean there are past lives involved in your book?

(P.S. Were you waiting until it was 11:00 to post this, or is that random?)

Aw, and I was looking forward to the book coming out soon especially since i had the worst day of my life today. I had practiced to get this one part in our school play for SIX MONTHS, and all I got was a Hot Box Girl (our play is guys and dolls) AKA the-part-for-wannabes-thats-worse-than-townsperson-and-you-know-you-were-only-cast-for-it-cuz-the-teacher-feels-bad-for-you part... :(
well,i might ask to not be in the play and try to get into my preforming arts high school by joining this one acting place run by a really nice lady who used to be on Broadway... :/

well, now i feel bad. don't let me hurt your feelings- i'm just sleepy, hungry, crabby, and in need of some dinosaur merchandise........ :)
take your time, great things come to those who wait.
also- i'm 11 and i am going to check out your book anyway. i just wont tell my mom about your age recommendation ;)

sorry about that! i had to get my girly scream out of the way b4 i could comment.

1. Hah! I was right about the Eternal Ones! (go chanel, go chanel, it's your birthday!) my sincere apologies if that just freaked you out.

2. Kiki 3 sounds super exciting! I'm afraid I'll die of the anticipation b4 I ever get the chance to read it!

3. Thanks so much for sharing your way too well-kept secrets with us!

4. That symbol kinda reminds me of a book I read once, The Prophecy of the Sisters. It had nothing to do with the stuff in the Eternal Ones, and it was a snake biting its tail, not that dogish looking creature, but it still reminded me of it.

Sorry about the long post. I'm just beyond excited!

I can't wait! I won't be 14 by next summer by I usually read books for older people anyway.
And, Anna, my school performed Guys and Dolls two years ago with Sign-Voice theater(because there is a deaf program in my school) and it was very awesome. I auditioned but I didn't get in. Good luck!

Congratulations on the new book! I think your writing is great, but can't seem to get any of my friends to pick up Kiki Strike (hm, maybe because we're in our late 20s)--I read it myself because I heard someone from your publisher speak at a panel discussion once and she recommended it--I wasn't disappointed (enthralled is more like it) and I'm looking forward to recommending something of yours without people sniffing that it's a kids book. Which, incidentally, just shows how much they're missing out...

D: So many answers, still so many questions.

I have decided that there needs to be a Kiki Strike movie. Among all the other books that I am convinced the entertainment industry is wronging the world by not transposing into cinematic form.

Let's see here, 2011.... *looks at schedule* Ooh, I get my license that year, SWEET! That's going to be a good year, if I can survive this one. :P I don't think teachers remember how badly freshman year sucked, and so continue to make the same mistakes with us that their teachers did with them.

I shall be on the look-out for the other book! Perhaps if I ask nicely, someone *cough*mother*cough* will buy it for me... Dark romance is awesomesauce.

D: Ananka has a secret crush? What is this madness?

And we all know that Kiki will seize the throne of Pokrovia, in accordance with the prophecy. XD

And...I daresay I have pestered you enough. Terribly sorry about that. *total insincerity* XD
