Is It A Hoax--or Just Weird?
This story has been around for a little while, and I expected it to be quickly dismissed as a hoax. Somehow it hasn't. Even the people at the Museum of Hoaxes website won't say for sure. So since you're all expert hoax spotters by now, I thought I'd get your opinion.
Did the people above really have plastic surgery to make their ears resemble those of elves, pixies, or fauns? Or are the pictures on the right photoshopped? A website that claims to be the homepage of a Hungarian doctor contains a picture gallery of people (all quite normal looking) who've supposedly had the unusual procedure.
According to the site, "Ears becoming pointed as a result of plastic surgery not only enhance the attractiveness of the face, but also improve the experience of listening to music." Hmmm.
Take a look at Dr. Lajos Nagy's website, and report your conclusions.

I don't know whether it is a hoax or not. I actually didn't see the weird ears on the second picture until I looked!
Weird, totally weird.
I wouldn't put it past some people to get that done to their ears, but I have no opinion as to whether it really happened.
I SOOOO WANT THAT!!! i looked at the other pictures and stuff :) so cool!
I want that too. Remember, "Hi little elf!" (Iris!)
These confuse me... the fact that their hair is almost exactly the same (same stray pieces, same highlights in the same places) makes me think that each pair of photos was taken in a fairly short time period, like ten minutes or so. So why did they change their shirts? Are we supposed to think that days have passed between photos? Anyway, final conclusion: fake, courtesy of Photoshop.
EXCELLENT detective work, Gamma. You're so right! I hadn't even noticed, but the hair on those photos is almost identical. They must have been taken within minutes of each other.
But why change shirts? If they were photoshopping the ears, they could have photoshopped the shirts as well. So my guess? I think they used prosthetic faun ears. Took one photo without them, then put them on, changed shirts and took another.
So Theatre and IM, I guess you really could have a pair!
Maybe the people that took the pictures wanted the modles to look the same. The hair is the same so you would focus on the ears better. you would get a better before and after by just focusing on the ears not the hairstyle.
Make since??
To be honest, I would do it because I have tattoos snaking around my arms and legs. Plastic surgery doesn't sound that bad!

Hmm.. that's hard to tell if it was photoshop or plastic surgery. Yeah, I think they're either photoshoped or just fake. The hair in both pictures are identical (oh, i see gamma said that too). And look at the girls necklace. It's the same one, and even in the generally same spot/shape. Plus, the makeup is identical too.
Nice to meet you, Wild. Any friend/sister of infamous's . . . Do you really have a lot of tattoos?
Just a few.

I've always wanted pointy ears.
survey says: FAKE!
Who could get their hair to be so exactly the same after weeks, and skin tone, facial hair growth...
The change of shirts only proves that they are intentionally trying to deceive people...
what is this Mueseum of Hoaxes of which you speak?
Anonymous . . . Put it into google and check it out. I think you'll like it!

maybe they changed their shirts because the full healing process goes over a few days?
You can get fake ears on a lot of costume websites. One I looked at even had anime ears. You put it on your ear and apply makeup so it blends in.
