Mother Nature Is One Cool Lady

(Photo by mdid. Looks good to me!)

Lightening makes mushrooms multiply.

The South American jabuticaba tree grows fruit on its trunk.

Looks like a strawberry, tastes like a pineapple.

Fifteen fingers, sixteen toes. If this kid doesn't grow up to be a superhero, I'll be really disappointed.

The mystery monkey of Tampa Bay.

The five-centimeter high ghost orchid is Britain's rarest flower.

Those are pretty awesome trees. And the x-rays of the kid with extra fingers and toes are pretty awesome, too. ;] I wonder why he's having them removed... I guess it's probably annoying to have people staring at your hands, and to have difficulty finding shoes that fit.

So sad that they're going to amputate that poor child's extra extremities. Really, he could've made a fortune celebrating his anomaly in a circus.

Oh, how I long for the sideshow freaks of the days of old...

Ahem. Anyway.

Those pineberries and the ghost orchid are an amateur horticulturalist's dream come true. I wish I could obtain both here in boring old Colorado.

I understand why he would like to amputate the fingers, by why the toes?? It would be SO funny to surprise shoes salesmen, and chinese ladies when you get pedicures.

Poor kid--they're operating to take 'em off. The fingers I can understand, but...can't keep out of my head the scene in the third X-Men where the kid Angel was trying to get rid of his wings...
