Put Me Down As an Ewwwwww! Person

Is your beloved pet particularly hairy? Does she shed fur all over your clothes and carpet? Well don't let all that soft, luxurious "wool" go to waste! Let Catty Shack Creations transform it into a beautiful accessory!

For the past few years, Catty Shack Creations has been spinning excess dog and cat fur into lovely handbags. Of course, as the company's founder readily admits in the video above, there are some folks (the Ewww People) who find the whole thing disgusting. But the Catty Shack Creations website insists that hair taken from dogs and cats is much cleaner than the wool sheared from sheep.

OK, I buy that, but I don't usually spend a lot of time with sheep. Wouldn't your cat be a little creeped out if you start walking around with a purse made from her hair? And if that thought doesn't bother you, why stop with pets? Why not collect the hair from your sister's hairbrush and have it woven into a scarf?

Perhaps I'm taking this too far. If you're not an Ewww Person, you can order your "Catty Shack Creations" here.

Sunday Bonus Story: Read about Frankie, Britain's hardest working cat burglar.

Yikes...I'm definitely an ewww! person. That just seems kind of sick to me. How can you run around carrying a bag made out of your pet's fur?!

Yay, Freddie! He must be waaay smarter than my cats....

That's strange how "About 15 of them are all the same leopard.". I mean, not everyone in town is going to have the same toy. Maybe he's stealing some from a store.

Wow Ananka, you sure have changed. You used to write all the time in the comments (even useing smileys) then you almost stopped completly, and now your starting up again. (Just look at the "Hamsters are Evil" comments in April 2007.) Unless, of course, that wasn't you.

OMG That cat they shaved, looks EXACTLY like my cat!!!!!! Except; my one's not shaved. You can see my cat on my blog if you want.

The cats are so lovely, all Persian cats. I would NEVER get my cats fur made into a handbag. EVER! Imagine when my cat dies! I'll be staring at the bag.... Oh my god, my cat's fur. My DEAD cat's fur. Then I'll be SO sad! I won't want to keep the bag anymore. Then I'll be thinking, what a waste... I shaved my poor cat for this, and now I'm throwing it away.

I am an EWWWWWWWWWW! Person too.
BTW: Look at my cats on my blog!!!

Irregular Kiki: My dog died and I still have a bit of her fur. I'm GLAD I have her fur. Because even though she's gone, I still have a bit of her left.

In a very, very small Swedish village it's tradition to make jewellery out of hair. They make other things like decorations and socks (!) as well. I am the proud owner of a necklace made out of silver and my own hair. But before I bought it I made it sure that it's my hair and my hair only.
